Period 58 UNIT 6: COMMUNITY SERVICES Lesson 3 (1st) Newwords, Listening, Useful Language (p. 52) Time: 45 minutes Class Date of teaching Absent students 6A2,4,5 I. THE AIMS OF THE LESSON. 1. Knowledge. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: + Ask and answer about environmental charity in Vietnam. + Vocabulary: charity, rainforest, ocean, donate, free, wildlife, World Wide Fund (WWF). 2. Ability: - Students read an article about environmental charity in Vietnam. - Students form and develop competencies: the ability to ask for repetition. 3. Quality: - Students' qualities are helped to develop such as: +Raise motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language +Develop communicative and team-working skills through learning activities II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS. - Teacher prepares the lesson plan, textbooks, teaching aids such as personal computers, projectors, speakers… - Students prepare textbooks, notebooks, studying tools, … ready for the lesson. III. TEACHING PROCESS. 1. Activity 1: Warm up: (6 minutes) a) Objective: - Help students review vocabulary about community services. - Ss identify, understand the situation of the new lesson. b) Content: - Introduction of vocabularies about community services. c) Products: Students know how to protect wildlife d) Organization of implementation: Teacher's activities Students' activities Option 1: Odd one out - Teacher shows four pictures of community services, students have to find and odd out the one that does not belong to the group. - Teacher and the whole class check and correct. Option 2: What must we do to protect wildlife? - Teacher shows some pictures of the forest, and then asks students to give their tips about how to protect it. - Teacher gives feedback, then leads to new lesson. - Teacher – whole class - Students in groups - Students in class 2. Activity 2: New lesson (35’) Activity 1: Vocabulary (10’) a) Objective: Ss know words about wildlife b) Content: - Writing words about community services. c) Products: Ss know how to pronounce the new words correctly and use them in appropriate situations. d) Organization of implementation: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Activity 1: Teaching new words. - Teacher uses pictures to elicit the meaning of new words. - Have students listen and repeat. Option 2: Speaking. - Students work in groups of four, use the same format of Sally to talk about an environmental charity. - Some students volunteer to share in front of the class.
