THE AIMS OF THE LESSON. 1. Knowledge. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: + talk about people’s homes and get someone’s attention. Vocabulary: pool, balcony, garage, yard, gym, apartment. Grammar: Simple present (+) 2. Ability: - Students pratice listening, and speaking for general and specific information about people’s homes - Students practice speaking skills in terms of picture description. - Students form and develop competencies: the ability to autonomy and selfstudy, the ability to communicate and cooperate, to solve problems and to create, the ability to develop communication skills and creativity, demonstrate teamwork skills 3. Quality: - Being active to broaden and percept the knowledge. - Having a good behavior toward the family. - Having the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pairwork, cooperative learning. - Having serious learning attitudes; love learning English, energetically and actively participate in learning activities - Students' qualities are helped to develop such as: building their love for family, homes and community. II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS. - Teacher prepares the lesson plan, textbooks, teaching aids such as personal computers, projectors, speakers… - Students prepare textbooks, notebooks, studying tools, … ready for the lesson. III. TEACHING PROCESS. 1. Activity 1: Warm up: (6 minutes) a) Objective: - Help students : + To create a friendly and atmosphere in the class before the lesson; + To give T and Ss a chance to introduce themselves; + To lead into the unit. b) Content: - T introduces some warm-up activities to creat a friendly and relaxed atmostphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the subject and new class… c) Product: Students know the topic of the lesson d) Organization of implementation: Teacher's activities Students' activities 1. Greeting and chatting: - Teacher (T) introduces himself/ herself - T has Ss to introduce themselves. - T encourages Ss to talk in English as much as possible 2. Leading to the new lesson: What is in the picture? - Divide the class into two groups, A & B. - Teacher shows chain of pictures of places. After watching, groups receive flashcard of the places they have just seen, pick out the ones they saw. - The winner is the group which has more correct pictures. - Teacher shows pictures of places again to lead in the new lesson. - Ask students if they have ever been to any of them. 1.Greeting and chatting - Students (Ss) listen and learn how to introduce themselves (name; age;address; likes; dislikes ….friends…) - Ss listen and answer. 2. Leading to the new lesson - Ss are divided into two teams - Ss pick out the ones they saw. - Suggested answes: + villa + garden + pool + garage + balcony 2. Activity 2: New words: (10 minutes) a) Objective: Help students widen the vocabulary. b) Content: new words in page 6 c) Products: Students know pronunciation, the meaning and the use of vocabulary d) Organization of implementation: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities a. Number the pictures.Listen and repeat. (CD1 – 2) - Use real things and pictures to introduce the new words: New words: 1. pool (n): 2. balcony (n) 3. apartment (n) 4. garage (n) 5. gym (n) 6. yard (n) . Have students look at the pictures and words. . T models . Have students write the words under the pictures. . Divide the class into pairs and have them check their answers with their partners. . Play audio and have students listen and repeat. - T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen then repeat the words/ phrases twice. - T asks some Ss to read the words. - T corrects Ss’ pronunciation - T explains the meanings if necessary b. Talk about your home using new words and three other words you know. - Teacher makes example sentences with new words. - Ask students to work in pairs, talk about their house, using new words. (exercise a/p. 6) Suggested question: - Are they friends? - Teacher has students work in pairs, read the sentences, guess the answers (exercise b/p. 6) While- listening - Listen and check their guess (listen the 1st time) : No, they are not friends - Listen again to check their answers. - Teacher checks and corrects. - Teacher shows the dialogue, students listen and repeat. Post- listening : Substitution - T asks Ss to talk about their homes. Example : I live in an apartment. It has two bedrooms. It has a small pool. B. ………………………………………………… Option 2: Conversation skill - Show a video clip in English conversation when the characters say “ excuse me” in the beginning of the talk - Ask students if they know the meaning and the usage of “excuse me” - Explain for students “Excuse me” is the expression when you want to get someone attention in formal and polite way. “Excuse me” can be used when you ask for their information, ask for directions or when you want them to repeat what they have just said. - Show some short dialogue and call some students using “Excuse me” and practice with their partners. - Check feedback Dialoge 1: Excuse me, can you tell me what time is it?
