Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to present and develop public speaking skills. II. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student’s book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, pictures, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - Students’ aids: Student’s book, notebook, workbook. III. Languages focus: Pronunciation: Word Stress IV. Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Pelmanism game - Prepare the cards with numbers on one side and the pictures of films / adjectives on the other side. - Stick the cards on the board so that students can only see the numbers , make sure the pictures of films / adjectives are mixed up. - Divide class into two teams. Each team choose 2 numbers. - Turn the cards over if they match. If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team to continue. - Go on until all the cards are turned over. The team which has more marks will win the game. - Lead in the new lesson: Word Stress Stress the first syllable for most two-syllable adjectives - Briefly explain the pronunciation feature • Teacher – whole class 25’ New lesson * Activity 1: Listen to the words and focus on the underlined letters. - Play the recording and ask students to draw attention to the pronunciation feature. - Have students listen again and repeat with a focus on the feature. III. Languages focus: - Vocabulary: army, battle, general, king, queen, soldier, win, invaders - Structures: IV. Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Previous lesson - Divide the class into 2 teams. Students from 2 teams go to the board and write some sentences with the Past Simple. - The team writes more correct sentences first will win the game. - Ask students to read aloud the words with the Past Simple. • Teacher – whole class 20’ New lesson A.
